A Night's Work

The dragon circled above above the village, almost invisible in the night sky. The sound of her minions destroying the little township and setting it ablaze brought a feeling of satisfaction to her bleak heart. Once or twice Maleficant opened her maw and flame fell down setting the thatched roofs on fire – adding in the destruction of the village.

 

When gazing at the destruction from afar lost it's thrill, the dragon lit down in what was the town square and in burst of flame returned to the witch's form. Diablo lightly perched upon her shoulder as she strolled calmly through the chaos of the burning village, her robes billowing behind her.

 

As Maleficant stroked her raven's feather's and whispered something low to him, a man burst out of a house that was being ransacked by her goblins. “Mercy! I beg you enchantress! Mercy!” he cried as he grabbed at the front of witch's robes.

 

“Mercy?” Maleficant snarled as she knocked the man away with her staff. “Of course my dear sir. Let it be known that the Queen of the Forbidden Mountain isn't without compassion.”

 

She raised her staff and a bolt of lighting fell from the green orb striking the man down dead. Diablo cawed gleefully at the charred remains as Maleficant walked pass smiling coldly.

 

“All in all a good night's work,” Maleficant said contently as she stroked Diablo's black feathers.

I thank you for you admiration, and who knows there could soon come a day when a pathetic little village does nothing more than bore me and I desire the destruction of something more grand and wouldn't it be grand to have two dragons versus just one?
