Starting Over

I have been slain and have returned. My plans halted as the sword pierced the the dragon's underbelly and the fools thought themselves safe. Safe to dream and hope, safe to plan for a hopeful future.

As I sit upon my throne and listen to what Diablo has to tell me, I find starting over not to be the daunting task that it seemed to be. Already my faithful have returned to my side and I have tasted the the fear of those who realized the Forbidden Mountain's Queen had returned.

Perhaps my victory will taste all the sweeter. My enemies have seen a glimpse of their happily ever after, what a beautiful despair they will fall into when they see it all turn to dust..

They coined 'wicked' just for you, didn't they, beautiful one?

Wow. Um. Are you in any way related to a woman named Miriam Quine? Because you sound about as intimidating.

*smiles nervously* Ah, you probably are, but she got to me first, you see, and I don't think I've ever quite gotten over it. A woman flattens me against a ceiling and describes in graphic detail how she's going to persuade my liver to come out my nose should I mess up, it tends to make an impression, you know?

You are joking, right? You think I'm going to stand in room with both of you? Thanks, but I like my liver where it is!

Yes, but she hasn't! If I go around pointing her out to dark queens, she might start thinking I'm a security risk or something, and that will not go well for me!

Nuh-uh. I'm very sorry, beautiful queen, but I think I'll leave you to meet on your own time, without help from me.

And I do so enjoy living. I'm afraid we're at an impasse, dark lady. One I sincerely hope to survive.

*grins* Exactly! It's not a loss unless you're dead at the end of it!

Well done, lady! Good luck destroying your enemies!

*Ara bows with a laugh, while Nira puts a cocky hand on her hip*

No, I don't think we have. Ara, of Jawburn, at your service.

And I am Nira. Queen of the blade, perhaps. *grins fiercely*

*laughs* And for us! It's good to meet another woman who can scare men properly. *smiles* They're beautiful creatures, but they do need telling sometimes.

Or all the time.

*Nira laughs, coming up onto the balls of her feet*

We're for scaring others, not for being scared, dark lady. We'll dance with demons and queens as easily as with men.

*Nira tosses her head proudly, glancing with a grin at Ara*

Thank you, dark lady! It is indeed! Perhaps one day, Ara and I will dance for you, and you can see for yourself!

...

.....

I believe the phrase to use here is beautiful and terrible, treacherous as the sea.

Beware they do not turn bitter in your belly.
